EatFiend @ Sabuku Sushi

Haven't had sushi in a while, so naturally I was excited to go to this place...
Sabuku Sushi is located on 3027 Adams Avenue, San Diego CA 92116
When we walked in we were greeted by the owner and he seemed very happy just to have us!
As we warmed up to the place with a couple of Sapporo's ($7 for a large bottle), I took inventory of the joint.
As any good sushi bar is, you have the option to sit at a table or sit at the bar. We sat at the bar and the stools were very comfortable. I looked at their menu and was kind of bummed that there were no pictures of their sushi, but then my attention was drawn to the flatscreen on the wall displaying pictures of the fine sushi they had to offer.
It was currently happy hour, which I think is on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
They had a few items from their menu that I cannot remember, but I did order the "buku bites" which consisted of shitake mushrooms stuffed with spicy tuna, spicy crab & cream cheese, tempura battered and fried, served over a ponzu butter sauce. Only $5, the perfect appetizer.
Rice and edamame are mandatory everytime I eat sushi.
My old lady isn't too big on sushi, but thats okay. The menu also offers non-fish options.
Here is one of their "cooked up creations", the "kabob roll" ($17 and well worth it). Inside is filet mignon, chicken teriyaki, grilled red onion & zucchini. Sauces include sweet mandarin, spicy ginger aioli & sriracha with toppings that were scallions & kuro goma. Whatever the hell it was it was damn good, you know I had to sample it!
And since I myself am a fan of spicy tuna I was drawn to their "Tenaciously Tuna" portion of the menu. Fuck it, why not order the most expensive item they had, the "red apple" ($19).
The red apple consisted of spicy tuna & tempura green onion on the inside, more tuna on the outside, with spicy diced scallops, spicy tuna & crab sprinkled with lots of tempura crunchies and drizzled sriracha. I love me some hot sauce!

When was all said and done our tab was $60 and change and we left happy with full belly's.
We also noticed on our receipt that if we went to the Air Conditioned lounge around the corner and presented our receipt, we'd get %30 off our first round! Awesome!

I also took note that there was insulation on the ceiling to help absorb sound and the joint had low level music (not some trendy DJ spinning shitty music you don't want to hear). I personally appreciate this because I hate screaming just to have a conversation when I'm dining.

...Anybody who has ever been with me to a karaoke bar knows I love to sing "Devil Went Down to Georgia" but man oh man this song if fucking epic!

Oh yea, the skating is friggin' amazing too!
David Gravette as usual, fucking shit up.

Everybody I skate with knows I'm a supporter of there company 'cuz their P2 boards make me feel confident on my shred stick again. (Being in the 200 plus club makes you break alotta' boards.)

Can't wait to get a copy of the new Creature CSFU dvd in the next issue of Thrasher magazine.
When I do get my hands on a copy, I'm gonna throw a rager in the mancave of epic proportions!
Of course a blog of it will follow.

EatFiend @ Pitchers Sports Bar

After a long suffering session in the sun at Rancho Penasquitos skatepark....
we ended up coming across this little gem in one of the small shopping centers of North County San Diego.
Pitchers Sports Bar seems like a nice quiet place where old men go to get there drink on.
 BornRetard approved.
Pool tables with multiple t.v.'s for your viewing pleasure.
Also you can sit either at the bar, at a table or at a nice comfy booth.
We all took our turns exploring what their full bar had to offer.
BornRetard went with the club sandwich. They also offer 40 cent wings on Mondays and Fridays!
Cos went with some sort of sandwich, who the hell knows.
I ended up putting back a few pints myself and gobbled down a grilled cheese sandwich.

If yer ever skating P.Q. park, it's worth checking out.
Fair prices, grilled food, cold beer and shade from the hot fucking sun.

I have a feeling there will be many more days like this.

St. Patricks Day Massacre 2013

This St. Patrick Day was a real doozy...
Little St. Patrick Day fact: America first starting issuing license plates in 1937 in Connecticut on St. Patricks Day.
Got all stocked up for a real good shit show.
6 pounds of corned beef! YEA!
Make sure you boil it in atleast an inch of water at 350 degrees.
Yer gonna want to cook it for 50 minutes for every pound of mouth watering meat.
Prepping veggies while dancing away to Irish music on the television.
 Got started with a Guinness-bomb
And got started on the peeling of the potato's.
Another Guinness-bomb, to help me handle the cooking duties of course.
 Cheers everyone!
After 3 hours and god knows how many black&tan's and Guinness-bombs, the corned beef was done.
Mashed potato's and plenty of veggies. Also served it with rye bread and butter.
 Meat was sliced to perfection.
Everybody got up in that Irish food goodness.
Capt.'Rue showed BK how to pour himself a black&tan.
 Dudes were hyped!
Everybody even got to have seconds.
So every time we did a Guinness-bomb TWSDave was in on the round.
That fucker was the first one done every time. I kept telling myself I was gonna beat him on the next one, however I failed, coming in 2nd place just about every time.
Maybe I can beat him at some form of an eating contest? I know I don't possess enough skate talent to beat him in a game of skate!
We eventually ran out of Irish cream, and resorted to full shots of Jameson with our Guinness-bombs.
The drunker I got, the more I dropped my phone. Eventually to the point where it fell apart.
I thought I destroyed it and checked the camera, which befittingly went to green-vision.
I ended up fixing it.
I feel like I poured the perfect black&tan, so beautiful. So is the head of cabbage.
Everybody enjoyed the corned beef.
Such a good time, a big thanks to everyone that came over.
Lets do it again next year, bubs.

Sahi Chronicles 13 Indian stuffed roti with shrimp & asparagus

Capt.Sahi is keeping it classy and informative in the "how to department"...
Home made dough stuffed with red onions, spinach and Thai chilies.
About the size of a golf ball.
 Rolled out flat.
 Cooked in an iron skillet.
 Yum.
Tasty marinades to cook some shrimp in.
 Asparagus
Gotta make sure you de-shell those shrimp, bub.
 Cook in a large pan...
 ... add the asparagus.
Restaurant quality bub.

Skate Talk Live Thats Life Commentary

The Notorious B.O.B. released a new episode of Skate Talk Live...
starring almost the whole Foundation team from the "Thats Life" era doing colorful commentary on their video, 10 years later.

Enjoy, its pretty hilarious. Everything Beagle and Leo say is pretty much gold.
Duffman seems to be the only one that really remembers anything skatenerd related.

Click full screen to really enjoy what the dudes have to say.

Stay tuned for some other company to bite his style and steal his commentary idea (again).

Mandatory Bloggery: Skate Tuff or Eat Muff

Starts with bacon....

Baaaaaaaaaaacccccccoooooooooonnnnnnnnnn
Bacon grilled cheese.
Speaking of meat, if anyone is wondering how Duffman is healing up. This is his foot, post surgery.
Howard Sterns world famous "Booty Ring Toss" van. As seen from a rearview window reflection.
CommandNBeef checking in.
Bag of sliced fruit for my work shifts.
Only to come home to another bacon grilled cheese sandwich.
Dr.Seuss impression.
Hot wings
Every time I drink Heineken I reminisce on my trip to Amsterdam.
Wandering the rain drenched cobble stone streets at night.
Capt.Stinks birthday, does it look like he's already had enough?
Time will tell.
Hanky poo doesn't agree with Master getting hammered.
Grilling in the alley, King-of-the-Hill style. It was raining too.

Mr. Dirp
Omelette mush.
I wish this truck would pull up to my house and deliver me a shitload of pizza.
Oh shit.
Shadow eating my newly found chips.
DonaldGately doing what he does best. Whack-off simulator.
Speaking of dirps...
Night of the Living Retard
Spaghetti and meatball night.
Me taking and artsy-fartsy pic of Dolan Instagramming in the shadow of a palm tree.
He preferred the from-behind angle, versus the side angle.
Poods!
Bacon and onions should always be cooked with beer in hand.
A heavy meat concoction on a jalapeno bagel. Roast beef, bacon and onions.
Best ice cream ever.
Rainy days at the skatepark.
I have been raiding my neighbors avocado tree. Psyched!
This beer tastes delicious. I was food prepping for dinner.
Some excellent cuts of meat.
Proper marinades for my sensational wok cooking skills.
Thats not a knife, this is a knife.
Now that I look back on it, I should have added a bit of Jack Daniels to it.
After stir frying the veggies I dumped a bit of brown sugar in to give it that sticky consistency.
With the copious amount of Sri Racha sauce that was added I like the fire to linger!
And the dumping of the meat.
It was damn good. Fuck Panda Express.
This guy don't give a fuck.
Angry PacMan street art.
LordBlah
Capt.Stink
Sick ass Lemmy stencil painted at the Home ave. ditch.
I love the fact that I shot this with a person at the end of the tunnel.
Didn't even try that on purpose. It just happened.
Believe it or not, we tried drying this ditch out for about 2 hours.
It was a waste.
Resorted to using Eucalyptus branches as brooms to sweep up the water.
Pointless.
One this I like about the Home Ave. ditch is all of the colorful tags and street art.
"Skate Tuff or Eat Muff"
This is directly below the 94 freeway.
Hopefully it's the final encouraging words you need to see before you
jump to your pointless demise.
Been a while since I had an In-N-Out burger. Deeeeeeeeelicious!
Old habits dye hard.
So bored. Left to my own devices in the early hours of the morning.
Ends with more glorious bacon.
